Electrical specifications, physical space, and local policy/programs will determine whether you can expand your solar system or not.
- Contact Solvest.
- We will review your existing system and discuss what you'd like to achieve with your solar expansion.
Yukon Clients (grid-tied)
- If it has been over 10 months since your first pre-approval (the limits given by the Energy Solutions Centre for how much solar you can have installed):
- We will need copies of your most recent ATCO bill and one from a year prior; these are necessary to get a renewed pre-approval for the project.
-
- The new pre-approval will determine the maximum additional capacity you can install.
- If you were limited by other factors during the initial install (such as roof space or financial resources):
- You are likely not currently producing near your limit.
-
- If roof space was your limitation, a ground mount expansion may be an option.
- If financial constraints were your limitation, contact Solvest. We are always up to date on government funding and programs concerning solar/renewable energy.
- Good Energy Rebate - Would you be eligible to receive it again?
- The Good Energy Rebate requirements are often misinterpreted, especially when looking into receiving it more than once for solar system expansion.
- Residential:
- The amount of the rebate you receive is based on $0.80 per watt installed, per year, per meter.
- Therefore, the rebate is directly tied to the size of your system. This means the amount of rebate you receive is limited by:
- The kW limit determined by the Energy Solutions Centre's pre-approval limits, as well as electrical transformer size.
- Your personal limits (i.e. roof space, financial resources) that restrict the size of your system.
- And of course, the rebate’s maximum of $5,000 per system per year.
