When will my bi-directional meter be installed?

The bi-directional meter swap typically takes ATCO/YEC 4 to 10 weeks after the solar system is paid for.

Following receiving final payment for the solar system, Solvest is then able to submit the Micro-generation application package to Energy Solutions Centre (ESC). ESC is expected to take 1 to 2 weeks to review, approve, and send the application package to ATCO/YEC. ATCO/YEC will then require 3 to 8 weeks to swap your existing electrical meter with a bi-directional meter.

During the time that your system is operational, but your new meter is not installed yet, you will only benefit from the self-consumption of your solar energy. You will not be reimbursed for your exports until the bi-directional meter is installed.

In summary, depending on your property's location and ATCO/YEC's workload, your new bi-directional meter will be installed 4 to 10 weeks after your solar system is paid for. The diagram below outlines the complete post-install timeline.
